Description Dental Front Office Coordinator – Periodontal Surgery Scheduling Experience Required
Location: Smile Central Park | 30 Central Park S, RM 13C, New York, NY 10019 Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:30 AM–5:00 PM Compensation: $25–$32/hour, based on experience Practice: Periodontal / Specialty Dental Practice Insurance: PPO & Fee-for-Service (FFS)
About the Opportunity
Smile Central Park is seeking an experienced Dental Front Office Coordinator with direct, hands-on periodontal surgery scheduling experience to join our established Manhattan specialty practice.
Prior experience scheduling periodontal surgical procedures is required for consideration. Candidates must already understand periodontal treatment workflows, surgical scheduling, treatment sequencing, maintenance and recall, and patient coordination.
While experience in general dentistry, oral surgery, or multispecialty practices is valuable, direct periodontal surgery scheduling experience is a firm requirement for this position.
This is not an Office Manager position. Our practice has established management in place. This role focuses on supporting patients, coordinating treatment, and maintaining an organized and productive periodontal schedule.
What You'll Do
Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable point of contact for patients throughout their treatment experience. Coordinate periodontal surgical appointments, including appropriate treatment sequencing, procedure scheduling, and postoperative follow-up. Manage periodontal maintenance, recall/recare, and ongoing treatment appointments. Maintain a productive periodontal schedule by proactively filling openings and following up with patients requiring treatment. Coordinate appointments based on provider recommendations, treatment needs, and appropriate timing of care. Manage general scheduling, confirmations, cancellations, and schedule changes. Review treatment plans with patients and clearly communicate next steps. Help patients understand insurance benefits, financial expectations, and scheduling. Verify insurance information and maintain accurate patient records. Collect patient payments and assist with financial arrangements as appropriate. Manage incoming calls, messages, and patient follow-up. Collaborate closely with the Office Manager, periodontists, hygienists, and clinical team to ensure a smooth patient experience. Required Qualifications
Previous dental front-office experience. Direct, hands-on experience scheduling periodontal surgical procedures. Working knowledge of periodontal terminology, surgical scheduling considerations, treatment sequencing, and postoperative follow-up. Understanding of periodontal maintenance, recall/recare, and ongoing patient care coordination. Experience reviewing treatment plans and communicating next steps with patients. Strong scheduling, organizational, and patient communication skills. Ability to maintain a productive schedule and coordinate effectively with providers and clinical staff. Please note: General dental front-office experience, medical surgical scheduling, or experience in other dental specialties without direct periodontal surgery scheduling experience does not independently meet this position's requirements.
Additional Preferred Skills
Experience working in a periodontal or multispecialty dental practice. Familiarity with dental insurance verification, benefits, and patient financial coordination. Experience coordinating multiple providers and complex treatment schedules. Strong follow-through with unscheduled treatment and patient recalls. Ability to work collaboratively with an established Office Manager and clinical team. What Success Looks Like
You become a trusted resource for patients and the clinical team while keeping the periodontal surgical and maintenance schedules organized, productive, and moving forward.
You understand periodontal treatment workflows, anticipate scheduling needs, coordinate appropriate follow-up care, and ensure recommended treatment doesn't fall through the cracks.
If you have direct periodontal surgery scheduling experience and are looking to join an established specialty practice in Manhattan, we'd like to hear from you.
