Damascus Dental of Mount Airy
About the role
Overview
Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
Job description:
Feeling underappreciated in your Dental Assistant role? We’re searching for an experienced Certified Dental Assistant (with radiology certification) who’s ready for more than "just a job".
At Damascus Dental of Mount Airy, we keep our team small, supportive, and stress-free—because a friendly, relaxed environment makes every day better for both our patients and our staff.
Can you relate to any of these?
- You’re a positive, motivated person who leaves work emotionally drained from trying to stay upbeat in a high-stress, negative environment.
- You go above and beyond yet rarely feel appreciated or supported.
- Time off is difficult to plan and often doesn’t get approved.
- The atmosphere at work leaves you feeling more exhausted than fulfilled.
If this sounds like your current situation, it might be time to find a better fit—a place you can call your “forever office.”
About the Company
Damascus Dental of Mount Airy is a small, privately owned dental practice looking for the right fit to join our limited, highly selective team. We take pride in fostering a positive, communicative, and team-focused culture where every member feels valued and supported.
Compensation & Benefits
What We Offer
- Work-life balance: 4-day workweeks, occasional half-day Fridays, no weekends, and 1-hour lunches.
- Continuing education: Opportunities for professional development and C.E. credits through courses and in-office trainings.
- Strong communication: We value open, respectful communication—with patients and between team members.
- Supportive leadership and a genuine appreciation for your contributions.
Responsibilities
- Assist the doctor chairside, anticipating needs and ensuring efficient, high-quality patient care.
- Prepare and maintain operatories and hygiene rooms, ensuring instruments and materials are properly set up, cleaned, sterilized, and restocked.
- Greet and seat patients, review and update medical histories, record chief complaints, and ensure patient comfort.
- Take scheduled diagnostic radiographs while following all safety standards.
- Perform clinical support duties, including adjusting appliances, applying topical anesthetic and fluoride, fabricating temporaries, and other duties as permitted by applicable regulations.
- Reinforce recommended treatment and accurately document completed procedures, clinical findings, treatment plans, and pending treatment.
- Assist with patient dismissal by providing post-operative instructions, completing documentation, and coordinating follow-up appointments.
- Maintain strict infection control protocols, including proper sterilization, hand hygiene, and adherence to OSHA and office guidelines.
- Communicate effectively with the doctor, hygienists, and team to support diagnosis, treatment planning, scheduling, and overall patient care.
- Assist with periodontal charting and dental examinations, communicating patient concerns and clinical findings to the doctor and hygienists.
- Provide patient education on preventive care, treatment procedures, oral hygiene techniques, and home care recommendations.
- Coordinate hygiene recall and continuing care scheduling with the hygienists and front office team.
- Utilize Dentrix daily for charting, scheduling, and clinical documentation.
- Operate Dexis and iTero scanner to capture high-quality diagnostic images and digital impressions.
Expectations
- Demonstrate knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and oral health concepts.
- Provide support to both the doctor and hygienists as assigned. All Dental Assistants are expected to share these responsibilities and may not selectively opt out of assisting either provider.
- Maintain professionalism through punctuality, accountability, and consistent job performance.
- Present a professional appearance and adhere to office dress code and PPE requirements.
- Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining appropriate patient boundaries and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA.
- Adapt to changes in scheduling, provider needs, and patient flow.
- Work efficiently, stay organized, and use downtime productively without prompting.
- Complete all tasks and documentation accurately by the end of each day.
- Communicate clearly, respectfully, and proactively with patients and team members.
