Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Dental Receptionist and Dental Insurance Claims Specialist to join our growing implant and periodontics dental practice. In this role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while efficiently managing appointment scheduling, patient intake, and administrative support. Additionally, you will handle dental insurance benefit claims, verify coverage, process claims accurately, and ensure timely reimbursement. Your proactive approach and strong organizational skills will contribute to a seamless patient experience and smooth office operations. Responsibilities
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival, ensuring a positive first impression and smooth check-in process
- Manage appointment scheduling using OpenDental practice management software
- Verify patient insurance benefits
- Review and process insurance claims accurately
- Follow up on outstanding claims and communicate with insurance providers regarding claim status and denials
- Maintain meticulous medical records, dental records, and billing documentation
- Handle multi-line phone systems with professionalism, demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and patient service skills
- Perform office administrative tasks such as filing, data entry (including 10 key typing), and managing medical records
- Coordinate with treatment coordinator for scheduling dental surgeries and periodontal maintenance
Experience
- A minimum of 1+ years prior experience working in a dental office environment is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-10/ICD-9), CPT coding, and medical billing procedures
- Proficiency in using OpenDental is essential; experience with Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth is a plus
- Demonstrated ability to manage insurance benefit claims processing efficiently and accurately
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel) and health information management software
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance standards and healthcare privacy regulations
- Exceptional customer service skills combined with strong clerical experience in front desk operations
- Ability to handle high-volume phone calls using multi-line systems while maintaining professionalism
Schedule
- Monday through Thursday from 7 am to 4:30 pm, Friday from 8 am to 12 pm (flexible Friday schedule)
Compensation
- Hourly pay range: $23-28 USD
